Comment:: two or more maps can be merged according to defined rules -- resulting map contains all characteristics of both maps
Comment:: topics in both maps are 'identified' -- based on name (TNC, topic map naming constraint) -- based on subject indication and identification -- based on application specific rules (e.g. have the same email address)
Comment:: outside the map: currently only defined how the merging occurs, not how it is initiated -- inside the map: and to topics outside the map
Comment:: allows for a modular, individual authoring of map -- maps consolidated during the merging
